First Steps – Install & Activate

01: First Things First

The absolutely first thing you need to do is make sure you have a self-hosted WordPress website and a Divi License.

02: Install the Divi Theme

Install the Divi Theme

Installing the Divi theme is simple! Watch the following video or read the steps below.

Find The File: For this step you will need to download the Divi.zip file available in your Elegant Themes account.
  • Head to your WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Themes.
  • Next, click “Add New”
  • Click “Upload Theme”
  • Choose the Divi .zip file and upload.
  • Click “Activate”

Your Divi theme is now installed! Yippee!

 

Add your Username & API key to Divi to receive updates

  • Head to Divi > Theme Options
  • Click “Updates”
  • Enter your elegant themes username
  • Enter your API Key (found in your Elegant Themes account)
  • Click “Save Changes”

03: Install the Nate Divi Child Theme

Install the Nate Divi Child Theme

With Divi installed, it is time to upload and activate The Nate Divi child theme. You will follow the same process as installing and activating the Divi theme. Watch the following video or read the steps below for guidance.

Find The File: Download theNate.zip file from your Sam Munoz Consulting account page. Within theNate.zip, you will find a folder called “Divi-child-Nate.zip”. This is the file you need to upload and activate in your WordPress Dashboard.
  • Head to your WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Themes.
  • Next, click “Add New”
  • Click “Upload Theme”
  • Choose the Divi-child-Nate.zip file and upload.
  • Click “Activate”

The Nate Divi child theme is now ready to go! Yippee!

04: Import Settings & Templates

Import Settings & Templates

Now that Divi & the Nate Divi Child theme have been successfully installed on your WordPress website, you will need to import the theme options, customizer settings, and layouts.

 

Importing The Nate Theme Options

Find The File: Within theNate folder, click on the “Imports” folder. Find the file called “The Nate – Theme Options.json”. This is the file you will upload.
  • Navigate to Divi > Theme Options
  • Click the up and down (export/import) arrows on the right-hand side.
  • Click “Import”.
  • Upload “The Nate – Theme Options.json”

 

Importing The Nate Theme Customizer

Find The File: Within theNate folder, click on the “Imports” folder. Find the file called “The Nate – Customizer Settings.json”. This is the file you will upload.
  • Navigate to Divi > Theme Customizer
  • Click the up and down (export/import) arrows on the left-hand side.
  • Click “Import”.
  • Upload “The Nate – Customizer Settings.json”

 

Importing The Nate Templates

Find The Files: Within theNate folder, click on the “Imports” folder. Find 2 files:

  • The Nate – Divi Library – File 1.json
  • The Nate – Divi Library – File 2.json

These are the files you will upload.

  • Within your WordPress Dashboard find Divi > Divi Library
  • Click the “Import & Export” button on the left-hand side.
  • Click “Import”.
  • Upload “The Nate – Divi Library – File 1.json
  • Repeat this process for file #2.

(NOTE: You can expect these files to take a few minutes to import).
